The Green Timbers Heritage Society is a registered charity and non-profit organization that advocates for the preservation and enhancement of the Green Timbers Urban Forest, Park, and the original Green Timbers Square Mile for future generations. We are always looking for members who care about this little green patch of the world, on the edge of one of Canada’s fastest-growing cities. The Society is community organized and led. It is wholly volunteer-run. Join us and be part of the solution!

green timbersThe Green Timbers Heritage Society came into being in 1987 to keep the forest from being turned into a football stadium. In 1988 and again in 1996 through referendums in the community we have stopped commercial development of areas of Green Timbers. Since then we have worked closely with the City of Surrey to preserve, re-habilitate and enhance the Green Timbers Urban Forest, Park and surrounding areas for everyone.

Over the years the Society has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for work in the forest. Trails, originally built by volunteers, now are maintained to high standards by the City. The Society also manages a program called Surrey’s Natural Areas Partnership (SNAP), a partnership between three environmental groups in Surrey plus the City.
